Hasanuddin University Makes History, Wins PIMNAS 39 Overall Championship for Third Consecutive Year

The prestigious competition, held at Diponegoro University (Undip) in Semarang, Central Java, from November 2–7, 2026, marked an important moment for Unhas in strengthening its tradition of academic excellence and student innovation.

MARITIMEPOSTS.COM – Hasanuddin University (Unhas) has once again achieved a remarkable national milestone by winning the Overall Champion title at the 39th National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) in 2026.

The prestigious competition, held at Diponegoro University (Undip) in Semarang, Central Java, from November 2–7, 2026, marked an important moment for Unhas in strengthening its tradition of academic excellence and student innovation.

This achievement also marks a historic milestone for Unhas, as the university secured an overall championship hat-trick, winning the title for three consecutive years.

After winning PIMNAS 37 in 2024 and PIMNAS 38 in 2025, Unhas once again maintained its dominance at this year’s PIMNAS 39. This consecutive achievement demonstrates Unhas’s consistency in developing an academic ecosystem that fosters creativity, innovation, and student competitiveness.

Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., expressed his deep emotion and pride over the achievement, describing it as something that would have been difficult to imagine in the past.

He said the success reflects Unhas’s transformation into a leading university with increasingly competitive academic capabilities at the national level.

“This is not merely a victory in a competition. It is proof that Unhas has an academic ecosystem capable of producing creative, innovative, and competitive students. We want to ensure that this achievement does not remain merely a source of institutional pride, but becomes part of a culture of excellence that continues to grow within Unhas,” said Prof. JJ.

According to the Rector, student achievements are one of the key indicators of a university’s success in fulfilling the three pillars of higher education: education, research, and community service.

Therefore, Unhas is committed to expanding its support for student-led research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community service initiatives, ensuring that the resulting works are not only aimed at winning competitions but also deliver tangible benefits to society.

Unhas Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. drg. Muhammad Ruslin, M.Kes., Ph.D., described the university’s third overall championship as the outcome of a systematic and well-planned student development process involving various stakeholders across the institution.

“This achievement cannot be separated from the commitment of all elements within Unhas to building a culture of innovation, strengthening faculty mentorship, and providing students with opportunities to develop ideas and produce innovations across disciplines,” said Prof. Ruslin.

He emphasized that maintaining the overall championship title for three consecutive years serves as a strong motivation for Unhas to further improve the quality of its Student Creativity Program (PKM) development and mentoring initiatives.

These efforts are also directed toward integrating academic activities with the enhancement of student competencies through learning experiences and creative work beyond the classroom.

Unhas Director of Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Suhasman, explained that maintaining the overall championship position at PIMNAS was the result of collective efforts that began long before the competition itself.

The development process involved several stages, including program socialization, internal selection, proposal mentoring, strengthening the substance of student projects, and preparation for presentations and competitions.

“This achievement is the result of collective effort. It involved a lengthy process bringing together students, faculty supervisors, faculty-level student affairs administrators, and the university team. We established the mentoring process from the outset so that students would not only be prepared for the competition but also capable of producing works that demonstrate novelty, relevance, and the potential to create meaningful benefits,” said Prof. Suhasman.

He expressed hope that this achievement would further encourage Unhas students to actively develop their potential through research, innovation, entrepreneurship, and community service.

The tradition of achievement that has been established is expected to inspire future generations of students to continue producing high-quality and impactful works.

At the 39th PIMNAS, Unhas sent 34 teams involving a total of 166 students competing across eight Student Creativity Program schemes. This placed Unhas as the university with the second-highest number of teams qualifying for PIMNAS 2026.

PIMNAS is the culminating national competition of the Student Creativity Program, bringing together outstanding student works from universities across Indonesia.

This year, the 39th PIMNAS adopted the theme: “Realizing an Advanced, Sustainable, and Dignified Indonesia through Adaptive and Impactful Student Innovation.”

Unhas’s achievement further reinforces the university’s commitment to building a higher education institution that excels not only in education and research but also in producing a young generation that is creative, innovative, competitive, and capable of contributing to national development.

Winning the overall championship three consecutive times represents more than a competitive achievement. Unhas has demonstrated that a culture of innovation, continuous student development, and a commitment to excellence are integral parts of Hasanuddin University’s identity.
