MARITIMEPOSTS.COM – The Faculty of Public Health at Hasanuddin University continued the Nusantara International Summer Course on Public Health (NISC-PH) 2026 with a field visit to Soppeng Regency on Tuesday (June 30).
As the second gathering in this year’s program, the delegation was officially welcomed by the Regent of Soppeng, H. Suwardi Haseng, S.E., before commencing their Field Learning Practice (Praktik Belajar Lapangan/PBL) in the villages of Ganra, Kaca, Manorang Salo, Lalabata Riaja, and Pesse.
The delegation was led by Dr. Hasnawati Amqam, S.KM., M.Sc., Head of the Undergraduate Public Health Study Program at Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Public Health, accompanied by six faculty supervisors.
The program brings together five international students from Mahidol University (Thailand), six international students from Soonchunhyang University (South Korea), and one international student from India who is currently pursuing studies at the Faculty of Public Health, Hasanuddin University.
Through this initiative, the international participants are not only learning about Indonesia’s public health system in theory but are also engaging directly in Field Learning Practice (PBL) alongside students from Hasanuddin University’s Faculty of Public Health.
During their four-day stay in Soppeng Regency, participants will live and learn in the host villages, conduct community observations, interact with local residents, identify public health challenges, and participate in implementing various community-based health interventions.
In addition to paying a courtesy visit to the Regent of Soppeng, the delegation is also scheduled to visit Hakata Resort and the Lejja Hot Springs as part of an introduction to the cultural heritage and tourism potential of Soppeng Regency for the international participants.
Through the implementation of NISC-PH 2026, the Faculty of Public Health at Hasanuddin University also contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by strengthening community-based public health practices, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experiential learning, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by fostering international academic collaboration in education and community engagement.
