MARITIMEPOSTS.COM – The Faculty of Public Health at Hasanuddin University officially launched the Nusantara International Summer Course on Public Health (NISC-PH) on Monday, June 29, 2026.
The event marked the first in-person gathering, bringing together national and international participants for an immersive public health learning program.
Following the opening ceremony, participants attended a public lecture titled “Ergonomics for the Informal Sector,” delivered by Prof. Yahya Thamrin, SKM, M.Kes., MOHS, Ph.D.
The lecture highlighted the importance of applying ergonomic principles in the informal sector to improve workers’ health, safety, and productivity.
Participants then joined a Hasanuddin University Campus Tour, where they explored the university’s academic environment and various learning facilities.
The tour also provided international participants with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the university’s academic culture while fostering interaction with members of the Hasanuddin University community.
The program continued with a Program Briefing & Introduction to the Field and a Project Overview session as preparation for the upcoming Field Learning Practice (Praktik Belajar Lapangan/PBL).
These sessions introduced participants to the implementation process, learning objectives, and field projects they will undertake, ensuring they have a comprehensive understanding before entering the fieldwork phase.
The first day of NISC-PH reflects Hasanuddin University’s commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) by strengthening public health capacity, SDG 4 (Quality Education) through experience-based learning.
SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by addressing ergonomics in the informal sector, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through academic collaboration among participants from different countries.
Through the Nusantara International Summer Course on Public Health, the Faculty of Public Health at Hasanuddin University aims to serve as a platform for knowledge exchange and shared experiences in public health while fostering international partnerships capable of generating sustainable solutions to local and global public health challenges.
