PELAKITA.ID – The Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries at Hasanuddin University is once again organizing its prestigious scientific forum through the 13th National and 9th International Symposium on Marine and Fisheries (SYMARFISH 2026).
The symposium will serve as a platform for researchers, academics, students, and practitioners to present research findings, share innovations, and expand professional networks in the marine and fisheries sector.
Carrying the theme “Science-Driven Innovation in the Blue Economy: Achieving Food Security and the SDGs,” SYMARFISH 2026 will be conducted in a hybrid format, combining onsite and online participation to accommodate attendees from across Indonesia and around the world.
The symposium is expected to become a collaborative scientific space that promotes knowledge-based blue economy development in support of food security and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A wide range of strategic topics will be discussed during the event, including aquatic biodiversity, aquatic ecology and conservation, oceanography and climate change, marine and fisheries biotechnology, socio-economics and governance, marine ecotourism and technology, as well as aquatic pollution and ecotoxicology.
In addition, SYMARFISH 2026 will feature a special session on seaweed, one of Indonesia’s leading marine commodities.
The organizing committee has also announced several important dates for participants. Registration and abstract submission opened on February 14, 2026, while the abstract submission deadline is set for May 14, 2026.
The early bird registration deadline will close on May 11, 2026, and regular registration will remain open until June 16, 2026.
The main conference will take place on June 20, 2026, while the deadline for full paper submission is June 27, 2026.
Through SYMARFISH 2026, FIKP Unhas hopes to encourage the emergence of innovative ideas and strategic solutions capable of addressing global marine and fisheries challenges, while also strengthening Indonesia’s academic contribution to sustainable blue economy development.
