MARITIMEPOSTS.COM — At the peak of its 70th Anniversary (Dies Natalis), Hasanuddin University (Unhas) introduced five strategic programs designed to address the needs of today’s campus while laying the foundation for the university’s future development.
The five initiatives are Unhas Prime, Unhas Excellent Program Indicator (EPI), Campus Immigration Point (CIP Unhas), Unhas One Data, and the Critical Mineral Institute.
The launch was marked by the pressing of a button by Unhas Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc., together with the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the Chair of the Academic Senate, representatives of the Unhas Alumni Association, and members of the South Sulawesi Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda).
Unhas Prime: Integrating Physical, Mental, and Spiritual Health
The program adopts a more comprehensive approach to the health and well-being of the university community. It integrates physical, mental, and spiritual health into a single system equipped with indicators and a database, allowing progress to be monitored continuously.
“We want Unhas Prime to become an example. It combines physical, mental, and spiritual health programs into a single integrated program. It has indicators, it has a database, and it will be continuously monitored,” said Unhas Rector Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc.
Monitoring will be conducted through medical check-ups (MCUs), complemented by strengthened psychological assessments.
Mental health will also receive particular attention through stress-level measurements and identification of the factors that influence them. With the support of a comprehensive database, the condition of the university community can be mapped more systematically and used as a basis for determining appropriate follow-up measures.
Unhas Excellent Program Indicator: Measuring Quality and Well-Being
In the area of well-being, Unhas introduced the Excellent Program Indicator (EPI) as an instrument to strengthen the quality and welfare of the university community. The program is intended to establish indicators that can be used to measure and monitor well-being outcomes across the university.
Campus Immigration Point: Bringing Immigration Services to Campus
Meanwhile, CIP Unhas brings immigration services directly into the university environment. The service provides easier access to immigration-related administrative needs, including visa and passport applications.
The establishment of CIP Unhas is also connected to Unhas’ ambition to expand its international ecosystem, with a target of reaching 1,000 international students in the coming year. This increase is expected to go hand in hand with the expansion of Unhas’ global networks and growing international interest in the university’s development.
One Data: Integrating Data for University Governance
In the area of governance, Unhas has begun developing a One Data concept that integrates the various datasets available across the university. The system is intended to provide more comprehensive and integrated information to support decision-making and more effective university management.
“This is the beginning of our efforts to go further. We will develop a One Data system across Unhas,” said Prof. JJ.
Critical Mineral Institute: Strengthening Critical Minerals Research
Another major initiative is the Critical Mineral Institute, established to strengthen Unhas’ capacity in research, innovation, and collaboration in the field of critical minerals—an area of strategic importance to future technology and industrial development.
The five programs were launched as part of the 70th Anniversary of Hasanuddin University, reflecting the university’s increasingly strong focus on quality, data-driven governance, internationalization, and strategic fields of research and innovation.
