MARITIMEPOSTS.COM – Efforts to strengthen Indonesia’s shrimp aquaculture sector continue to be promoted through more adaptive and sustainable approaches.
In response to various challenges such as declining environmental quality, production uncertainty, and the sustainability of shrimp farmers’ livelihoods, a talkshow titled “Reorganizing Shrimp Ponds in Indonesia from South Sulawesi: An Ecosystem-Based Approach for More Resilient and Sustainable Aquaculture” will be held as a strategic dialogue platform involving multiple stakeholders.
This event is designed to discuss the current state of shrimp pond management, particularly in South Sulawesi as one of the country’s key production centers.
The discussion will highlight the importance of integrating productivity, environmental sustainability, and the economic sustainability of shrimp farmers as an inseparable whole.
An ecosystem-based approach is expected to serve as a key solution in addressing the increasingly complex dynamics of the aquaculture sector.
The talkshow will take place on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 08:00 to 14:30 WITA, in a hybrid format that allows participants to attend in person at Hotel Aston Makassar or join online via Zoom.
Participants will receive various benefits, including an e-certificate, valuable insights and knowledge, as well as attractive merchandise as a token of appreciation.
This event is a collaborative effort between Yayasan Hutan Biru (Blue Forests), the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP) of Hasanuddin University, the FIKP UNHAS Alumni Association, and the Marine and Fisheries Office of South Sulawesi Province.
This synergy reflects a shared commitment to advancing the transformation of the shrimp aquaculture sector toward a more resilient, inclusive, and sustainable system.
The general public, academics, practitioners, and shrimp farming entrepreneurs are all invited to participate in this forum.
