PSBM 2026: The Pulse of Indonesia’s Entrepreneurial Diaspora

MARITIMEPOSTS.COM— The 26th Bugis Makassar Entrepreneurs Meeting (PSBM XXVI) in 2026, initiated by the South Sulawesi Family Association (KKSS), is scheduled to take place on March 25–26, 2026, in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

The event will be centered at Hotel Claro Makassar and will feature a series of strategic agendas, ranging from strengthening social ties and religious reflection to business and investment forums involving national figures and business actors from across the country.

Opening with a Welcome Dinner at the Governor’s Residence

The series of events will begin on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, with participant registration and arrivals at Hotel Claro Makassar.

In the evening, the South Sulawesi Provincial Government will host a welcome dinner at the Governor’s Official Residence as a formal reception for PSBM XXVI participants.

A Grand Opening Rich in Cultural Values

On the second day, Thursday, March 26, 2026, the event will officially open at the Phinisi Ballroom of Hotel Claro Makassar. The Chairman of BPP KKSS is scheduled to attend alongside his delegation to inaugurate the event.

The opening ceremony will begin with the Indonesian national anthem Indonesia Raya and the KKSS anthem, followed by a traditional Matoanna Sipakalebbi dance performance by the Angin Mammiri Foundation.

A spiritual atmosphere will be presented through the recitation of the Holy Qur’an by international child qari Zian Fahrezi, who won first place in an international competition in Iran in 2026.

An official address will be delivered by the Governor of South Sulawesi, Andi Sudirman Sulaiman. The atmosphere will be further enlivened by a performance from renowned singer Iyeth Bustami.

The opening agenda will also include a Halal bi Halal reflection delivered by Das’ad Latief, before reaching its highlight marked by a ceremonial drum beating by prominent national figures, including Jusuf Kalla, Aksa Mahmud, Andi Amran Sulaiman, the Governor of South Sulawesi, the Secretary General of BPP KKSS, the Chairman of KADIN South Sulawesi, and the Chair of the Organizing Committee.

National Figures & Senior Business Leaders

Jusuf Kalla is a prominent national figure from South Sulawesi who served as Indonesia’s Vice President for two terms (2004–2009 and 2014–2019). He is widely known as both a businessman and a central figure in the KKSS network and the development of Eastern Indonesia.

Aksa Mahmud is the founder of Bosowa Group, one of the largest conglomerates in Eastern Indonesia, and a key figure in business and education development in South Sulawesi.

Andi Amran Sulaiman is Indonesia’s Minister of Agriculture and Chairman of BPP KKSS, recognized as a successful agribusiness entrepreneur prior to entering government.

“Success Story” Forum Featuring Governors and Entrepreneurs

In the afternoon session, PSBM XXVI will host a discussion forum themed “Resilient Entrepreneurs, Growing Economy,” moderated by national presenter Utrich Farzah.

Several regional leaders and national figures are scheduled as speakers, including:

  • Andi Sudirman Sulaiman, Governor of South Sulawesi, known for his focus on budget efficiency and needs-based infrastructure development.
  • Andi Sumangerukka, Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, a retired military officer with a background in business.
  • Zainal A. Paliwang, Governor of North Kalimantan, with a policing background and a focus on border development.
  • Sherly Tjoanda Laos, Governor of North Maluku, a businesswoman actively promoting regional investment.
  • Rudy Mas’ud, Governor of East Kalimantan, a strategic region supporting Indonesia’s new capital city (IKN).
  • Suhardi Duka, Governor of West Sulawesi, a senior politician and former regent.
  • Apolo Safanpo, Governor of South Papua, an academic and bureaucrat leading one of Indonesia’s newest provinces.
  • Ria Norsan, Governor of West Kalimantan, known for his focus on border area development.
  • Yulius Selvanus Komaling, Governor of North Sulawesi, a retired military officer emphasizing security and economic growth.

Also participating are Das’ad Latief, a prominent Islamic preacher known for his engaging style, and Iyeth Bustami, a well-known Indonesian Malay and dangdut singer.

Additional figures include Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, Chairman of KADIN South Sulawesi, and Nurwayah, a female political and business figure representing women’s roles in entrepreneurial networks.

Business Matching: From Investment to Global Coffee

Beyond discussions, PSBM XXVI will also focus on business matching sessions aimed at creating concrete collaboration opportunities.

The first session will highlight investment opportunities in South Sulawesi, presented by Governor Andi Sudirman Sulaiman alongside business figures such as Hendra Firmansyah (Firman’s Group) and Jusman Sikki (Mario Micron Metalindo).

The second session will carry the theme “South Sulawesi Coffee Goes Global,” featuring industry players and academics including Irsan (ASKI Indonesia), Yenny (PT Sulotco/Kapal Api Group), Hariadi (Toraja coffee farmer), Reta (academic), and Sukmawati Syukur (Kopi Digital).

Closing with a Farewell Dinner

As a closing, the organizing committee has scheduled a farewell dinner to be held at Hotel Gapura Makassar on Thursday evening.
