maritimeposts.com/ – Known affectionately as Om Jak or Om Jaksa, Dr. Chaerul Amir once again brought pride to Indonesia at the 8th Global Gojukai Karate-Do Championship 2025, held in Chiba, Japan, from August 7–10, 2025.

This prestigious tournament was contested by athletes from 36 countries across various continents.

Competing in the 80 kg category for the 50-year age group, Chaerul clinched the gold medal after a series of hard-fought matches.

“Alhamdulillah… after facing seven opponents from different countries, I finally reached the final against a homegrown Japanese karateka and won with 2 wazari,” said Chaerul Amir, a 5th DAN black belt in Gojuryu, speaking to maritimeposts.com/ on Thursday (August 14, 2025).

The road to the final was far from easy. Chaerul had to take on formidable karatekas from India, Uruguay, Hong Kong, Argentina, South Africa, the United States, Norway, as well as several other Asian countries, including Japan.

Thanks to his technique, strategy, and strong fighting spirit, he successfully advanced to the championship bout.

His 2-wazari victory over the Japanese karateka in the final stands as a testament to Chaerul’s skill and dedication to the martial arts, even while balancing his duties as a public prosecutor.

“This achievement is expected to inspire the younger generation, especially among state officials, to continue excelling in various fields,” Chaerul said.
